Mothers’ Day
Kia ora e te whānau,
Yesterday Manu gave us a beautiful and vulnerable reminder of the sacredness of being a parent. It was a brilliant push back against the subtle temptation some of us have to 'jump from the temple' and do something awesome in ministry. I was challenged to remember once again God's invitation to look at the 'ordinary' things of life as a sacred call. To be sure, God wants to use us to change the world - to even do the impossible - but he does it in many varied and sometimes surprising ways as we respond to his invitation in our daily lives.
So whether we are called to be a Tabitha known for acts of kindness and beauty (Acts 9:36), a poor widow offering her few coins (Luke 11), a member of a traveling missionary band of apostles (Acts 13) or a rich tax collector who radically changes his lifestyle (Luke 19), we each have a role to play in God's great story of redemption and restoration. And as we head toward Pentecost, we remember that he has empowered us with his Spirit to do whatever he calls us to do.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
