The Woman of Samaria

In John 4, the meeting between Jesus and the Woman of Samaria at Jacob's well was no accidental meeting.

In this, the longest recorded conversation between Jesus and anyone in the Gospels, Jesus shared some of the most crucial aspects of his ministry with a woman who had a troubled personal history and who was from a despised race of people.

He saw past her difficulties to her potential - looking on her heart, not on outward appearances. She was transformed by her meeting with Jesus and through her so were the people from her town.

We remember how Jacob dreamt of angels descending and ascending a ladder to heaven. At Jacob's well, the Woman of Samaria met the one who bridged the distance between heaven and earth.
