Beginning Lent

Kia ora whānau,

We are winding up our last week of Welcome Home Discipleship School this week. It has been an amazing three weeks. We have had between 40 and 55 people at the school each day. We have truly experienced God’s presence. We have an incredible team running the school and have been blessed with wonderful meals from many of our St Toms’ whānau. Thanks so much to all of you who have contributed with your prayers as well. I hope you can join us for our celebration on Friday night (6pm St Tom's).

This Wednesday (today) marks the beginning of lent. Over these next 6 weeks we will once again step into our story as we journey with Jesus to the cross. Lent is a season where we take inventory of our lives. We attempt to disengage from things that can keep us from our true Love or numb us from our own brokenness. We also attempt to engage once again with things that reflect the kingdom of God and feed our souls that we may have forgotten.

As we contemplate what God may be inviting us into during this season, let’s remember that these are unforced rhythms of grace not heavy burdens to carry or hoops to jump through. And let’s keep our eyes on Jesus.
