Source of Joy

Kia ora whānau,

On a stormy Sunday morning, we noticed (in Philippians 1:12-26) that the Apostle Paul's circumstances were not the source of his joy. This is such an important truth to for us to grasp a hold of. When we are set free from having to be the centre of our universe, we can let go of trying to control the events and people in our lives. We can rest in the good news that Jesus (through his death and resurrection) has made a way for us to be reconnected to a good Father who will never leave us. This was such good news that Paul had rearranged his life around Jesus and was willing to suffer in order for people to be able to hear it (the gospel). I find this both challenging and inspiring.

As we continue through our wonderful Wellington winter, my prayer is that we will catch the passion that Paul had for Jesus and the gospel. And may that be the source of our joy.

Keep your eyes on Jesus,

Mark

Soup and stories back on this coming week! Come along to 311 Mansfield St. at 6for some hot leek and potato soup and the next installment in our explorations of the Book of Acts.

Evening prayer and dinner is on at the Chapel this Thursday, 18 July from 5:30pm. During our 24/10 prayer, we often met together at the end of the work day to pray together and share a meal. This was so fun that we thought it was worth repeating. All are welcome!
